I came back to China when I was 17 years old
And my mom was telling me: don’t bring your skateboard to China
Cause she was really embarrass that have her kid .A 17-year-old skateboarder in front of her traditional family
But she trick me .She said that: oh, no, don’t bring it, there is just like dirt roads and horses there
I was like really?
A lot kids in China
What they are looking for is really just a community
You skateboard, I skateboard. There are two of us, why don’t we skateboard together?
There are skate spots popping up everyday
Some are the older ones, you get security guards and stuff like that
But you never have to worry about running out of spots here
It’s a giant skate park
Skate kids here are a little open-minded
There has a lot to do with just the culture of skateboarding itself
Even something as simple as music
When they watch their favorite video part
They probably go to QQ music and download that whole album
A lot of the skateboarders here are breaking out the shell and finding their own little unique style
Expressing themselves a lot more through their skateboarding
We meet so many people from so many different cultures
We pick up a little pieces and parts of the things that create who we are.
